2:21 am - I smiled in knowing I'd be back one day.
Some thought needs to be given as to the nature of truth. Truth is of interest because it is so evasive. We don't even know the truth when we watch a thing unfold before our own eyes because we are always looking through lenses with different parameters, tailored to pass all information through the filter of our own experiences and biases. For objectivity we need science, but for interpretation we need a mind that can handle the complexities of deduction and induction. Where a mind is involved, experience and bias will inevitably come into play. Thus, truth, if defined as the ultimate objective reality, is unachievable by us.

So why is truth important?

Because there are gradients of untruth, that is why. And there needs to be a way to decipher a gross untruth from a more benign inaccuracy. There is no black and white when it comes to humans and the concept of truth. It is the shade of gray that directs us accordingly in our evaluation of truthfulness.

I wear my shade of gray today like a second skin.

current mood: hopeful
current music: sound of silence
